Bottom Line
Catalog updated: August 2026
AIVA and Async both compete in Audio, overlapping most directly on content Creation.
Choose AIVA if…
Best for video and game creators who need original, royalty-free background music instead of a recognizable stock track, and its edge is mIDI export lets a musician refine an AI-generated composition further in their own DAW. A genuine step up from stock libraries for commercial use, the free tier is too limited for real production work. Lean toward Async instead if rebranded from Podcastle to Async, a chat-based video and audio suite that retains Magic Dust for one-click filler-word removal, audio leveling, and noise cleanup matters more for your use case.
Choose Async if…
Best for podcasters and video creators who want recording, editing, chat-directed repurposing, and publishing handled in one browser-based tool, and its edge is rebranded from Podcastle to Async, a chat-based video and audio suite that retains Magic Dust for one-click filler-word removal, audio leveling, and noise cleanup. A genuine time-saver for quick podcast editing, Descript still wins on detailed word-level control. Lean toward AIVA instead if mIDI export lets a musician refine an AI-generated composition further in their own DAW matters more for your use case.
