Elicit

Elicit is an AI research assistant built specifically for engaging with academic literature, it finds relevant papers, extracts key information from abstracts and full texts, synthesizes findings across multiple sources, and helps researchers build evidence-based literature reviews without reading every paper in full. The Literature Review workflow is its primary use case: enter a research question, and Elicit searches across 200+ million papers from Semantic Scholar, ranks them by relevance, extracts specific data points (study design, sample size, intervention, outcome measures), and presents them in a structured table that enables systematic comparison. This automation can compress weeks of literature scanning into hours by surfacing only papers that contain the specific information the researcher needs. Elicit's Summarize feature generates evidence-weighted summaries of the literature on a question, with citations linking each claim to its source paper.

The full-paper upload feature extends analysis to papers not in the indexed database. Plans start at the Plus tier at $10/month for researchers processing up to 5,000 paper credits monthly. The Basic tier is free with limited monthly credits. Elicit is most impactful for researchers, graduate students, and evidence-based practitioners in health, social science, and STEM fields where literature review is a core research activity.
