Sora

Sora is OpenAI's video generation model that creates high-definition, physically accurate video from text prompts, images, or existing video clips. Unlike other models that struggle past a few seconds, Sora can produce videos up to 60 seconds with consistent character appearance, lighting, and camera motion across the full duration. It understands real-world physics, shadows, reflections, object weight, and material behavior, which is why its outputs read as cinematic rather than synthetic. The model handles complex camera instructions: slow dolly push-in, crane shot, tracking a specific subject through a scene.

Integrated into ChatGPT for Plus and Pro subscribers, it's accessible without a separate API setup or technical configuration. Storyboard mode accepts sequences of reference images to guide the visual progression of longer video narratives. Used by filmmakers, marketers, and creative teams for concept visualization, advertising pre-production, social media content, and rapid prototyping of video ideas that would otherwise require a full production shoot. Sora's primary limitation remains character consistency across very long sequences and in scenarios requiring precise, repeated human interaction with physical objects.

The model continues to be updated with capability improvements. At the Pro tier ($200/month), users receive uncapped Sora generations at 1080p; the Plus tier ($20/month) includes limited generations per month.
